Agustsdottir’s Record-Breaking Performances Lead to MASCAC Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's freshman Asgerdur Jana Agustsdottir (Akureyi, Iceland) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's indoor field and rookie of the week for her record-breaking performances at the Division III New England Championships on Friday (Feb. 16).

 

She placed third in the pentathlon with a school record-breaking 3,425 points. She also broke a Worcester State record in the high jump with a height of 1.69m (5-06.50 for third place and also finished first in the shot put with a top throw of 11.55m (37-10.75). Her other event results are as follows: 60 meter hurdles: fifth place – 9.61, long jump: third place – 5.20m (17-00.75), 800 meter run: 11th Place – 2:41.92.

 

Her pentathlon point total is fifth best on the national list while her high jump leap is the seventh best.
