WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's Bernice Mensah (Worcester, Mass.) was tabbed the league's first Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's indoor rookie of the week for her standout performances in her first collegiate meet on Saturday (Dec. 2).

Mensah placed 3rd in the long jump (5.13m/16' 10") and 4th in the triple jump (10.47m/34' 4.25"), qualifying for Division III New England's in both field events. She also came in 13th place in the 60 meter dash (8.23) and 15th place in the 200 meter dash (27.30) at the UMass Boston Indoor Open.

"Bernice went into this weekend a little nervous about her first collegiate meet, but her hard work and eagerness to learn at practice shown through at the meet," commented head coach Andrea Ouellette.  "She posted great marks in her events and there is still so much potential there."

The women's track & field team returns to competition this weekend as they travel to the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center on Saturday (Dec. 9) for the Northeastern Invitational.
