Women's Indoor Track & Field Runs BU Valentine Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. - A selection of athletes from the Worcester State University women's indoor track & field competed Friday at the Boston University David Hemery/Valentine Invitational.

Lead the charge for the Lancers was sophomore Bernice Mensah (Worcester, Mass.), who took part in two events on Friday. Mensah finished in 26th place overall in the triple jump, with a distance of 10.50 meters, while also finishing in 82nd place in the 200 meter dash, running a time of 26.08 seconds. Junior Abigail MacGregor (Salem, N.H.) also competed in the 200 meter run, finishing in 142nd with a run of 26.83.

Worcester State had a pair of runners compete in the 800 meter run on the day, led by junior Courtney Guay (Londonderry, N.H.), who finished 150th with a time of 2:29.16. Sophomore Kyra Siano (North Attleboro, Mass.) wasn't far behind, crossing the line in 165th with a run of 2:31.56.

The Lancers had lone competitors in a trio of additional events Friday, led by reigning MASCAC Rookie of the Week Ryann Molinari (Grafton, Mass.), who finished in 87th place in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 3:13.75. In the 400 meter run, sophomore Amanda Turner (Windham, Maine) was 152nd with a time of 1:03.06, while junior Elisabeth Olson (Wilmington, Mass.) was 152nd in the mile with a run of 5:22.13.

The lone men's event in which the Lancers competed on the day was the men's distance medley relay, which featured Worcester State's Drew Fottler (Chelmsford, Mass.), Joe Grider (Hopedale, Mass.), Brian King (Stow, Mass.), and Patrick Carleton (Tewksbury, Mass.). The Lancers finished in 16th place with a time of 10:47.77.

The rest of the Worcester State men's team will have its shot at the BU Valentine Invitational on Saturday, while both the men's and women's teams gear up for the MASCAC Championships next weekend at Plymouth State University.
