Buzzards Bay, MA --- Sophomore Andrea Ouellette
has been named the MASCAC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of
the Week for her school record breaking performance this past
weekend at the Jim Sheehan Invitational hosted by Fitchburg
State.
Ouellette, who hails from Salisbury, MA, eclipsed a 13-year mark
of 36-03 feet held by Lancer Hall of Famer Elke Aun in the triple
jump with a leap of 37-03.25 ft. In the process Ouellette also
provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor
Championships. In addition to taking a top finish in the triple
jump, Ouellette finished the meet placing in the 400 meter hurdles
(1:15.97) and sixth in the 100 meter hurdles (17.98).
This is the second time this outdoor season that Ouellette has won
a triple jump. Ouellette also saw gold in the event four times in
eight meets during the indoor season which a top finish at the
MASCAC Indoor Championships while she also earned Division III
All-New England honors in the event this past season as well.
Ouellette and the rest of the women’s outdoor track and
field team look to qualify for the postseason in more events head
to Northeastern this Saturday.
