New London, CT --- The Worcester State Lancers placed second with 131 total points at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College and were just edged by Rhode Island College who tallied 133.5 total points.
Freshman Mara Kralian (Grafton, MA) continued her stellar season as she took the top finish in the 100 meter dash (13.12), the 200 meter dash (26.91) and the long jump (5.42m). Kralian also helped the 4 x 100 relay team of sophomore Andrea Ouellette (Salisbury, MA) along with freshman classmates Sarah Rafferty (Uxbridge, MA) and Kristina Lisacki (Woburn, MA) reset the school record that was set two weeks ago by the same team with a time of 50.19.
The 4x800 relay team of junior Kara Antrim (Rowley, MA), with first year teammates Danielle Clifford (Attleboro, MA), Meg Plant (Franklin, MA) and Maura Withington (Franklin, MA) also broke a 17 year record that was held by Erica Pierce, Melissa Kilman, Kate Curran and Brenda Smith with a time of 10:20.81. The previous time of 10:37.9 was set at Colby in May of 1992.
Ouellette also took home the top prize in the triple jump with a leap of 10.90 meters while she also took fifth in the 100 meter high hurdles (17.07) which qualified her for the Division III regional's in the process. Freshman Brittany Stoddard (Orange, MA) also finished in first place in the javelin throw with a toss of 34.16 meters.
The Lancers will compete again next Saturday at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships next Saturday.
