Jasper Leads Women's Outdoor Track At Bridgewater State Invitational

Bridgewater, MA --- Junior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) heaved the best throw in the javelin (138-5/42.15 meters) and placed fourth in the long jump (15-3.25/4.65 meters) as she helped pace the Worcester State women's outdoor track and field team at the non-scoring Bridgewater State Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

The meet officially kicked off the outdoor campaign for the Lancers.

Jasper picked up right where she left off from last season as her toss in the javelin stamped her ticket for the Open New England Championships next month and was the fourth-best throw in the NCAA Division III to date. For her efforts she was named the inagural MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week of the season.

During the 2013 outdoor season, Jasper claimed the MASCAC/Alliance crown and the Division III New England Championship in the javelin before she finished 12th overall in the event at the Division III Championships.

Pacing the distance corps was freshman Danielle Cote (Dighton, MA) who clocked 11th in the 800 with a time of 2:44.98 for a new personal best.

The Blue and Gold will continue their season next week at the Tufts Invitational.
