McFadries and Carson Score at Division III New England Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Both Stephanie McFadries (Burlington, Mass.) and Hanna Carson (Natick, Mass.) scored for the Lancers in their respective events as the team placed 23rd at the Division III New England Championships, hosted by Springfield College, on Friday-Saturday (May 6-7).

 

MIT was crowed the Division III New England Champions with a total of 123.50 points, while Williams College took second with 85.60 points. In the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), Bridgewater State was the first to finish at 10th place with a team score of 36.

 

Worcester State's freshman javelin thrower, McFadries, earned six points for the Blue and Gold as she marked a 3rd place finish with a top throw of 39.75m. She was the first freshman in the group of throwers, and currently is ranked 15th (Division III) nationally in the event.

 

Carson paced the Lancers in the throwing events as she came in 6th for three points in the shot put for a top throw of 12.48m.

 

Also throwing for the Lancers was Elizabeth McCormack (Gloucester, Mass.) who threw the discus for a distance of 30.67m and came in 12th place in the hammer throw at 43.17m. Molly Downing (Dedham, Mass.) came in one spot ahead of McCormack in the hammer for a distance of 43.33m.

 

Abigail Danso (Worcester, Mass.) competed in 100 Meter Hurdles and came in 13th out of 21 competitors with a time of 16.05.

 

Dalena Le (Worcester, Mass.) came in 18th place out of 25 contestants in the 400 Meter Hurdles (1:07.65). She also competed in the women's triple jump, grabbing 15th place at 10.06m.

 

Justine Murdocca (Milford, Mass.) competed in the 100 Meter Run and placed 23rd with a time of 42:30.34.

 

Worcester State's 4x800 Meter Relay group of Kayla Corcoran (Lunenburg, Mass.), Rachel Lauzon (Carver, Mass.), Danielle Bavoux (Medway, Mass.) and Mia Rogers (N. Dighton, Mass.) came in 14th place in 10:03.05 to break a Worcester State all-time record.

 

Next weekend, the Lancers travel to New Haven, Conn. to participate in All New England Champions, hosted by Southern Connecticut State University. Live stats and a live video feed are available for viewing at the following links:
