Danso Wins 100 Meter Hurdles at Trinity College Invitational

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Worcester State University women's track & field team competed at the Trinity College Invitational on Saturday at the Jessse/Miller Field.

 

Junior co-captain Abigail Danso (Worcester, Mass.) won the 100 Meter Hurdles event with a 15.82 finals time. Danso hit a PR in the preliminaries for the event at 15.50, and with this marking stands at 14th in all of Division III New England. She also marked an 8th place finish in the 400 Meters (1:15.44). Delia Rhodes (Lawrence, Mass.) came in 8th in the 100 Meters (17.82).

 

Also performing well at the meet was sophomore Mia Rogers (N. Dighton, Mass.) who registered a PR in the 5000 Meter Run. After finishing the run in a time of 19:26.22 in the preliminaries, the distance athlete completed the run in with a finals time of 18:39.75, which was good for 2nd place.

 

Freshman Lauren Waters (Mansfield, Mass.) was the top runner in the sprints categories. After completing the 100 Meter Dash in 13.11 seconds in the preliminaries, the rookie slid into 3rd place as she marked a time of 13.08 in the finals. She also took part in the 200 Meter Dash, placing 13th in a time of 28.03.

 

Danielle Bavoux (Medway, Mass.) and Kelsey Bedard (Leominster, Mass.) led the Lancers in the mid-distance events, as Bavoux placed 12th in the 800 Meter Run (2:27.43), and Bedard came in 16th in the 1500 Meter Run (5:13.12).

 

In the relays, Worcester State's 4x800 Meter led the way with a 2nd place finish. The team was made up of Kayla Corcoran (Lunenburg, Mass.), Elisabeth Olsen (Wilmington, Mass.), Bavoux, and Rogers. Worcester State came in 3rd in the 4x400M (4:53.20), and 5th in the 4x100M (52.51).

 

Haley Moss (Melrose, Mass.) guided the Lancers in the jumps, as she came in 5th in the high jump (1.49m). Abigail MacGregor (Salem, N.H.) also competed in the jumps as she came in 6th the triple jump (9.80m) and 8th in the long jump (4.52m).

 

Stephanie McFadries (Burlington, Mass.) paced the Lancers in the throws, as she came in 3rd in the javelin with a top throw of 37.94m.  Elizabeth McCormack (Gloucester, Mass.) took 4th place in the hammer throw (38.54m) and 8th in the discus (29.36m). Megan Rouillard (Barrington, N.H.) and Caitlyn Brennan (Dedham, Mass.) came in 7th and 8th in the hammer, while Carina Frontiero (Ispwich, Mass.) placed 7th in the shot put (9.55m).

 

Next week, the Lancers will travel to Westfield State for the MASCAC/Alliance Championships.
