McFadries Tabbed Division III New England Javelin Champion

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Worcester State University women's outdoor track & field team finished 16th out of 32 teams competing in the Division III New England Championships over the past two days, as sophomore Stephanie McFadries (Burlington, Mass.) led her team with a top performance in the javelin throw.

 

McFadries was crowned the Division III New England champion in the javelin, as she had a top throw of 41.81m. This marking was good for a personal record (PR), as she topped her previous PR of 41.50m.

 

Other scorers for the team included Abigail Danso (Worcester, Mass.), Haley Moss (Melrose, Mass.), and Worcester State's 4x800 Meter Relay team of Kayla Corcoran (Lunenburg, Mass.), Elisabeth Olsen (Wilmington, Mass.), Danielle Bavoux (Medway, Mass.), and Mia Rogers (N. Dighton, Mass.) who broke a Worcester State school record and placed 7th in a time of 9:50.64.

 

Danso competed in the 100 Meter Hurdles and, along with McFadries, reached a PR with a finals time of 15.14. Moss took part in the high jump competition and reached an outdoor PR of 1.60m, and met her indoor PR in the event.

 

Also contending in the Division III New England championships were Lauren Waters (Mansfield, Mass.) and Doreen Buabeng (Worcester, Mass.) in the 100M Dash (13.02 and 13.41, respectively), along with Rachel Stier (Mansfield, Mass.) in the 400M Dash (1:00.04). The Lancers also had a 4x100 Meter Relay team compete, which consisted of Waters, Abigail MacGregor (Salem, N.H.), Stier, and Buabeng.

 

Next up is the All New England Championship which will also be held at Williams College from May 11-12.
