Women's Outdoor Track and Field Competes at Penman Relays

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women's Outdoor Track and Field team journey to Southern New Hampshire today for a wind ridden Penman Relays. Worcester would battle the whipping wind and weather to make their mark against a wide range of talented competition.

 

In the short track junior Caroline Gilson (Grafton, MA) grabbed both 19th in the 200m, with a time of 27.90, and 12th in the 400m, crossing the finish line in 63.11 seconds. Joining Gilson in the 200m were first years Meg Driscoll (Mansfield, MA) who placed 25th with a 29.03 and Mia Guinto (West Boylston, MA) who crossed in 41st in 31.5 seconds. Additionally, sophomore Erin Condon would join the trio with a 39th place finish in a time of 30.97 seconds. 

 

As the distance expanded, sophomore Bridget O'Malley (Leominster, MA) took on the challenge, claiming 14th in 2:38.74 time in the 800m as fellow sophomore Leah Berg (Worcester, MA) took on the 3,000m quest, grabbing 6th with a time of 13:35.15.

 

On the field side of the day, first year Lauren Condike (East Longmeadow, MA) would reach 9th in the high jump with a mark of 1.43m. We had additional double first year action in the long jump as Ciara Adu-Addo (Worcester, MA) finished 2nd with a mark of 5.25m just ahead of Alexis Strong (Southington, CT) in seventh at a distance of 4.83m. Junior Eryca Lopes (Ayer, MA) would wrap up the days event for Worcester State as she claimed seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 9.68m.

 

The throwing events were a bit sparser this meet, as qualifying numbers were cut to helped speed up the day resulting in just competition in the shot put and javelin as sophomore Ava Piccolo (Tewksbury, MA) claimed 11th in the shot with a 9.74m, just ahead of senior Sthanisha Moreau (Taunton, MA) who finished in 19th with a 9.08m. Piccolo would also grab 18th in the javelin with a mark of 22.18m just behind junior Arianna Constant (Leominster, MA) who finished in 14th with 29.29m. 

 

Worcester State returns to action next Saturday at the Bonnie Edmondson Classic in the final primer before the MASCAC Championships the following week.
