Women's Volleyball Opens MASCAC Play With 3-0 Victory Over Mass Maritime

 

Worcester, MA --- Senior Megan Brown (Dartmouth, MA ) had a game-best seven kills and sophomore Kaylee Leduc (Swansea, MA) added eight service aces as they helped lead Worcester State to a 3-0 win over Mass Maritime in MASCAC women's volleyball action this evening Assumptions Laska Gym.

The Lancers (2-8, 1-0 MASCAC) won in three consecutive sets by scores of 25-6, 25-6 and 25-15. The Buccaneers fall to 2-7 with the loss and 0-1 in conference play.

Sophomore classmates Meghan Deighan (Lynnfield, MA) and Samantha Patterson (Ashby, MA) along with junior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) all notched four kills each as second-year Jennifer Cabral (Swansea, MA) put up a team-high three digs.

Second-year Gina Battista (W. Springfield, MA) and junior Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, NY) both combined for 19 assists in the win.

Junior Deb Langley (Abington, MA) paced the visitors with two kills, five assists and a match-high eight digs. Senior Michaela Garrity (Tiverton, RI) tallied six kills and freshman Emilee Spiller (Sandwich, MA) chipped in with six digs.

Worcester State heads to Plymouth State to take on Rhode Island College at 12:30 PM before going up against the hosting Panthers at 2 o'clock.

Mass Maritime heads to Wentworth for a tri-match of theirown. After facing off against Regis at 1 PM, the Buccaneers face off against the Leopards at 3.
