Lewis Reaches Milestone, Paces Women's Volleyball At Plymouth State Tri-Match

 

Plymouth, NH --- Junior Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, NY) totaled 64 assists and 19 digs – including the 1,000th of her career as she helped lead Worcester State to a 1-1 mark at the Plymouth State Tri-Match this afternoon.

The Lancers (3-8) swept Rhode Island College, 3-0, in the opener before they were defeated by Plymouth State, 3-2 in the nightcap. With the setback the Anchorwomen dipped to 0-14 and with the win the Panthers improved to 6-4.

Since statistics were first recorded in 2003, Lewis becomes the fourth Worcester State women's volleyball player to reach the 1,000 assist milestone. With 1,058 helpers, Lewis is just 275 off the top spot.

Worcester State plays again on the road on Tuesday at 7 PM at Bay Path.

 

Worcester State 3, Rhode Island College 0

Junior Amanda Lewis dished out a contest-best 24 assists to go with nine digs while senior Megan Brown (Dartmouth, MA) tallied nine kills and eight digs to help lead Worcester State to a 3-0 win over Rhode Island College.

The Blue and Gold defeated the Anchorwomen in straight sets, 25-13, 25-23 and 28-26.

Junior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) also notched eight kills as sophomore Meghan Deighan (Lynnfield, MA) chipped in with seven kills. Senior Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) put up a squad-best 10 digs and three service aces in the triumph for WSU.

Entering today's match, Lewis was just 16 dishes of the coveted assist milestone and entry into the school's grand club.

 
 

Plymouth State 3, Worcester State 0

Junior Alyssa Jasper connected for a .294 hitting percentage and 12 kills to go with five digs, but Worcester State fell 3-2 to Plymouth State.

Both squads traded barbs over the first four sets, 25-15, 26-28, 25-19 and 20-25 before the hosting Panthers earned the hard-fought 15-7 win in the final stanza.

Third-year Amanda Lewis was solid with 40 assists, 10 digs and a pair of aces while senior Vicki O'Brien added a match-best 22 digs. Sophomore Meghan Dieghan and senior Megan Brown both registered eight kills apiece as Brown finished with seven digs for the Blue and Gold.
