Women's Volleyball Falls To Bridgewater State, 3-1

 

Bridgewater, MA --- Despite 18 assists and seven digs by sophomore Gina Battista (Tewksbury, MA), Worcester State fell to Bridgewater State, 3-1, in MASCAC women's volleyball action this evening.

The Bears (13-15, 3-2 MASCAC) won the first two sets 25-18 and 25-9 before the Lancers took the third, 25-13. The Blue and Gold (6-17, 2-3 MASCAC) led midway through the fourth, 15-12, but the hosts utilized a 13-2 run to clinch the series with a 25-17 win.

Junior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) added 11 kills and nine digs while senior Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) put up a match-high 23 digs for WSU.

Senior Megan Brown (Dartmouth, MA) chipped in with seven digs and seven kills as second-year Meghan Deighan (Lynnfield, MA) tallied nine points on five kills and four aces.

Bridgewater State led in kills (34-30) and assists (30-26) while also finishing with eight blocks – 10 of which were recorded as block assists.

The Bears were paced offensively by freshman Hannah Maymon (Narragansett, RI) who finished with a team-best 10 kills and sophomore Julie Hutchins (Bellingham, MA) had three solo blocks and five block assists.
