Brown, Jasper, O'Brien Recieve All-MASCAC Women's Volleyball Nods

Westfield, MA --- Junior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) along with senior teammates Megan Brown (Dartmouth, MA) and Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) have all been selected to the All-MASCAC Women's Volleyball team in a vote by the leagues seven head coaches earlier this week as announced by league publicist Emily Diekelmann.

Jasper was honored on the First-Team while Brown and O'Brien each earned Second-Team plaques.

Jasper, who had been tabbed to the Second-Team in each of her first two campaigns, enjoyed tremendous success as one of the best outside hitters in the conference. She currently leads the MASCAC in kills per set (3.52) while her school-record 342 kills are the second-highest total in the league.

With 15 blocks and 29 aces to her credit this season Jasper is also second in the conference in points (382) and points per set (3.9). She has also racked up an astounding 746 kills in her three-year career, the second highest sum in program history.

Brown takes home her second all-conference honor after she was honored during her freshman season in 2010 as the MASCAC Rookie of the Year. After returning from a leg injury sustained at the beginning of her sophomore campaign, she came back into form for her senior semester to lead the team during the year.

As one of the most consistent attackers and defenders on the club, Brown is ranked among the top 10 in several categories including total kills (232 – 7th), kills per set (2.44 – 8th) and digs (234 – 10th).

Among career leaders, Brown's 606 kills and 797 digs are both fifth all-time in their respective categories.

The honor for O'Brien marks her third straight all-conference accolade. She was recognized with First-Team laurels in 2011 and O'Brien was distinguished on the Second-Team in 2012.

As of Thursday evening, O'Brien was ranked first in the MASCAC in digs per set (4.11), second in total digs (395) and ninth with a squad-high 31 service aces. She is just 57 digs off resetting the single-season school record.

With 1,251 digs in her career, she is the all-time leader and the only student-athlete to go over the grand mark since women's volleyball statistics were first recorded in 2003.

The Lancers (9-18), under the watchful eye of ninth year head coach Bernie Chase, are seeded fourth in this week's MASCAC Tournament. With a 3-0 win over #5 Salem State in the quarterfinals this past Wednesday, they have advanced to the semifinals to take on top-seeded Westfield State on Saturday at 11 AM.
