Jasper Selected Co-MASCAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week

Westfield, MA --- For the second time in as many weeks, senior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) has been named MASCAC Player of the Week for her outstanding efforts this past week for Worcester State.

Jasper averaged 16.3 kills, 10.6 digs and had a .240 hitting percentage for the Lancers while also earning All-Worcester City Tournament team accolades en route to pacing the squad to a 2-1 record.

She started off the week with 10 kills and 13 digs in a 3-0 triumph over UMass Dartmouth before she added a match-best 21 kills in a 3-1 setback against WPI in the semifinals of the City Tournament. Jasper ended the weekend with 18 kills, 13 digs and four aces in a City Tournament consolation victory over Becker.

On the campaign, Jasper tops the MASCAC in total kills (78) and kills per set (4.59) while her total (55) and average digs (3.34) are eighth and 12th in the conference statistical standings, respectively. Her attacking percentage of .250 is also fifth in the league.

At her current pace, Jasper figures to reach the 1,000 kill milestone as she is just 132 away from becoming the second Worcester State women's volleyball player for 11th year head coach Bernie Chase to do so.

Jasper also has 437 digs, 75 aces and 57 total blocks to her credit in 86 games (302 sets) for the Lancers.

She shares MASCAC Player of the Week honors with sophomore Charleyne Panner (Guilford, NH) of Bridgewater State.

The Blue and Gold, who sport an overall record of 4-1, will compete this upcoming weekend in the Wesleyan Quadrangle meet facing off against Curry on Friday evening (7:30 PM) before taking on the hosting Cardinals on Saturday at 11 AM and Mitchell that afternoon at 2 PM.
