Leicester, MA --- Senior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) registered a .387 attacking percentage with 14 kills – including the 1,000th of her career – to help propel Worcester State to a 3-0 victory over Becker in non-conference women's volleyball action this evening at the Leicester Gymnasium.

The Blue and Gold (12-2) ran their streak to seven consecutive wins by defeating the Hawks (2-10) in three straight sets, 25-16, 25-20 and 25-20.

Jasper becomes the second Lancer to join the exclusive club as she entered the contest needing just nine to reach the millennial mark. With her sum at 1,005, Jasper is 122 away from becoming the programs all-time leader and passing former standout Lauren Saylor (2006-09).

Senior Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, NY) recorded her fifth double-double of the campaign with 33 assists and 10 digs while junior Meghan Deighan (Lynnfield, MA) hammered seven kills and three solo blocks.

Junior Kaylee Leduc (Swansea, MA) paced the defense with 10 digs as classmate Jennifer Cabral (Swansea, MA) and sophomore Valerie Hoyle (Bridgewater, MA) tag teamed to tally nine kills.

Becker was paced by freshman Kiristi Hadzewycz (Daytona Beach, FL) who finished with team high 13 kills with six digs. Hadzewycz also hit at a .400 clip with just three errors in 25 attempts.

First-year Samantha Lee (Prospect, CT) put up 11 digs while junior Samantha Caouette (Montague, MA) and sophomore Marissa Turner (Coventry, RI) combined for 11 kills. Freshman Charlene Landry (Gorham, MA) doled out 20 assists for the Hawks.

The Blue and Gold led 20-6 midway through the opening set and never looked back. Highlighted by six kills by Jasper, the visitors smacked 15 overall with two miscues in 34 chances for a .382 percentage.

In the second set, Worcester State outscored the hosts 4-0 and took over a 10-6 edge. Becker, however, took advantage of several attacking errors and trailed by just two (11-9).

The Blue and Gold though utilized a 10-2 surge to open up a 21-11 margin. Deighan had a trio of kills in the spurt and sophomore Jamika Townsend (Virginia Beach, VA) notched two service aces.

Becker refused to go down without a fight as the hosts went on a 7-3 run and trailed 23-19. Hadzewycz had a winner in the surge before chipping in on a block assist with Landry.

After a Hadzewcz kill which made the score 24-20, Jasper ended the middle frame with a clean spike to the middle of the court to end it.

In the third, WSU led by as many as five twice and held a 21-17 edge. But Becker sliced into the deficit on an ace by senior Danielle Robbie (Bellingham, MA) and a kill by Turner to help the hosts threaten by one point (21-20).

The visitors though closed out the period by taking the last four points to clinch the victory.

Both squads return to the court on this weekend. The Lancers look to keep their streak going in a 1 PM road MASCAC matchup against MCLA on Saturday as Becker entertains UMaine Fort Kent in a twinbill starting at 12:30 this Sunday.
