Women's Volleyball Runs Winning Streak To 11 With Two Victories At Regis

 

Weston, MA --- Highlighted by senior Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, NY) who compiled 62 assists and 13 digs over two matches, Worcester State swept the Regis triangular match this afternoon with victories over Southern Vermont and the hosting Pride. 

The Lancers (16-2) started off the day by defeating the Mountaineers, 3-0, before they dispatched Regis, 3-0, in the second game. With both victories, WSU has now earned wins in 11 consecutive contests dating back to September 13.

Worcester State continues their season on Tuesday with an away matchup against Lasell at 7 PM.

 

Worcester State 3, Southern Vermont 0

Senior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) finished with 13 kills, nine digs and a pair of service aces as she helped pace Worcester State to a 3-0 triumph over Southern Vermont in the middle game of the Regis tri-match.

The Lancers took all three matches against the Mountaineers (4-9) by scores of 25-13, 25-17 and 25-13.

Senior Amanda Lewis handed out 34 assists to go with six digs as classmate Ali Remigio (Tewksbury, MA) finished with four kills, six digs, two aces, two block assists and a solo rejection.

Junior teamates Jennifer Cabral (Swansea, MA) and Kaylee Leduc (Swansea, MA) also combined for 24 digs in the win.

Jasper, who logged one third of the squads total kills, helped the Blue and Gold finish with a .297 hitting percentage.

 

Worcester State 3, Regis 0

Junior Meghan Deighan (Lynnfield, MA) and sophomore Jamika Townsend (Virgina Beach, VA) underscored a strong performance for Worcester State in a 3-0 victory over Regis in the nightcap of the tri-match.

All three sets were close with the Blue and Gold winning by scores of 25-23, 25-22 and 25-18. The Pride fell to 14-8 in the loss.

Deighan and Townsend both tallied five kills apiece in the win as Jasper also paced the offense with 10 kills and seven digs. Deighan and Amanda Lewis helped the Lancers amass 10 block assists together while Lewis also ended the contest with 28 assists and seven digs.

Townsend put up 12 digs and junior Kaylee Leduc (Swansea, MA) notched a game-best 19 digs.

Junior Jennifer Cabral (Swansea, MA) narrowly missed out on a double-double with nine kills and 12 digs for WSU.
