Women's Volleyball Goes 1-1 At Conn College Tri-Match

 

New London, CT --- Worcester State defeated Mount Holyoke, 3-0, before dropping their final game, 3-0, to the host Camels this afternoon at the Conn College tri-match.

The Lancers (21-6) close out their season with three matches starting with Keene State on Thursday at 7 PM. WSU then heads to Salem State to finish off their MASCAC slate at 11 AM before taking on Gordon at 1 o'clock.

 

Worcester State 3, Mount Holyoke 0

Senior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) finished with 15 kills, six aces and four digs as she helped pace Worcester State to a 3-0 victory over Mount Holyoke in the middle game of the Connecticut College tri-match.

The Blue and Gold defeated the Lyons in three straight sets by scores of 25-15, 25-23 and 27-25.

Junior Meghan Deighan (Lynnfield, MA) and freshman Megan Rouillard (Barrington, NH) combined for 11 kills while senior Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, NY) doled out 28 assists and four digs.

Junior Jennifer Cabral (Swansea, MA) put up a team-high seven digs for WSU who had nine aces as a team.

 

Connecticut College 3, Worcester State 0

Senior Amanda Lewis had a near double-double with 24 assists and nine digs as she helped lead Worcester State in a 3-0 setback against Connecticut College.

The Camels (12-9) posted wins in three consecutive sets by scores of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-14.

Senior Alyssa Jasper had a solid game with nine kills and seven digs while junior Jennifer Cabral and classmate Samantha Patterson (Fayetteville, NC) both logged nine digs apiece. Cabral also added six kills and junior Meghan Deighan notched seven.

Sophomore Valerie Hoyle (Bridgewater, MA) helped the Blue and Gold record five team blocks with a solo rejection and two block assists as junior Kaylee Leduc (Swansea, MA) registered a squad-best 13 digs defensively.

Lewis also eclipsed the single-season record for helpers in a season as she now boasts 743 on the season with the highest averaged in the MASCAC (8.20 assists per game). She broke the mark that had been previously set by Janelle Lavoie in 2006.
