WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's sophomore outside hitter, Emily Carens (Northborough, Mass.) has been named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) First Team All-Conference, as announced by the conference Wednesday (Nov. 2) afternoon.
Carens completed the regular season with a team-best 267 kills, 19 service aces, and 23 blocks (three solo) to total 299 points. She is fourth in the conference in kills and kills/set. While Carens is dominant on the offensive end, she also has helped the team out on the defensive end with 202 digs. She also notched 13 helpers throughout the regular season.
Joining Carens on the first team was MASCAC women's volleyball player of the year, Alycia Rackliffe of Framingham State who led the conference in kills (485), kills per set (4.66), total blocks (96), solo blocks (29), and block assists (67). Also named to the All-Conference First team are Hannah Maymon and Charleyne Panner of Bridgewater State, Allison Clark of MCLA, and Jen Green and Lizzie Taylor of Westfield State.
Earning a spot on the MASCAC Second Team All-Conference with Rookie of the Year recipient, Erin Clifford, are Cassidy Tyros of Bridgewater State, Vicki Anderson, Sarah Leonard and Julia Wan of Framingham State, Charleen Klangos of Massachusetts Maritime and Hannah Mullarkey of Salem State.
