Carens Selected MASCAC Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s junior outside hitter, Emily Carens (Northborough, Mass.) has been selected the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women’s volleyball player of the week, as announced by the conference Monday (Sep. 18) afternoon.

 

This past week, Carens averaged 12 kills, 5.33 digs with five blocks and a service ace in a 2-1 week for the Lancers. She recorded 14 kills, three blocks (one solo) and eight digs in the 3-1 conference victory over Westfield State. She then tallied 22 kills, eight digs, two block assists and a service ace in the tri-match split with Lesley University and Wentworth Institute of Technology this past weekend.

 

Head coach Bernie Chase commented on her performance saying, “Emily had a great week leading us to our first MASCAC win of the season.”

 

Carens currently leads the conference in kills (106) and total attacks (382). She is second in the conference in kills per set (2.86), points (115.5), and third in points per set (3.1).

 

This week the women’s volleyball team hits the road Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday as they square up against Keene State, Lasell, and Mass. Maritime, respectively.
