King Earns Fourth MASCAC Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week Award

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's Amari King (Lawrence, Mass.) has earned her fourth (third consecutive) Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's volleyball player of the week award, as announced by the league Monday afternoon.

 

The junior outside hitter averaged 11.75 kills, 9.5 digs and two service aces with a .325 hitting percentage in a 3-1 week for the Lancers to remain unbeaten in MASCAC play.

 

King tallied seven kills with a .429 hitting percentage, 10 digs, four service aces and a block assist in the 3-0 win over Salem State. She then collected 16 kills and two digs in the 3-1 win over UMass Dartmouth. She then notched back-to-back double-doubles of 13 kills and 14 digs in the 3-0 win over Framingham State and 11 kills and 12 digs in the 3-0 setback to Plymouth State.

 

She currently leads not only her team in numerous categories, but leads the MASCAC in kills (289), kills per set (3.44), total attacks (835), hitting percentage (.246), points (334.5) and points per set (4.0).

 

The women's volleyball team hits the road this week as they travel to MASCAC opponent, Bridgewater State, on Wednesday (Oct. 18) and then head to Smith for a two-day tournament Friday-Saturday (Oct. 20-21).
