Women's Volleyball Records First Win in Five-Set Thriller

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Two Lancers finished the evening with double-doubles on Tuesday evening as the Worcester State University women's volleyball team came from behind to take a thrilling 3-2 decision over Rhode Island College at the Murray Center. Set scores were 25-20, 25-27, 22-25, 25-21, 15-4

With the win, the Lancers get in the win column for the first time in 2018, moving to 1-2. The Anchorwomen drop to 1-3 with the defeat. 

Amari King (Lawrence, Mass.) had a dominant evening on Tuesday in her first match since being named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday. The senior finished the night with an impressive 20 kills and 22 digs in the victory. Also recording a double-double on the night was senior Emily Carens (Northborough, Mass.), who finished with 10 kills and 12 digs. 

Junior Stephanie Chapin (Hampden, Mass.) hit double figures in kills for the first time this season in the Worcester State victory, as she put down 11 kills. Senior Megan Leavens (Storrs, Conn.) was the star of the night defensively for the Lancers, recording 28 digs.

The Lancers will be back on the court on Friday for the start of the Wheaton Invitational. The Lancers have matches against Wheaton and Middlebury scheduled for Friday evening.
