Volleyball Sweeps MCLA to Stay Perfect in MASCAC
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Seniors Emily Carens (Northborough, Mass.) and Amari King (Lawrence, Mass.) combined for 27 kills while Allie Nolan (Melrose, Mass.) racked up 39 assists to lead the Worcester State University women's volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over the MCLA Trailblazers this evening in MASCAC Volleyball action. 
 
With the win, the Lancers improve to 8-6 overall and remain perfect in league play at 3-0.  MCLA drops to 6-8 on the season and is still searching for their first conference win at 0-3.
 
The Lancers came out red hot in this one as they breezed in the opening set behind Carens, King, and Nolan to take it 25-9. MCLA would give the Lancers some headaches in the second set, however the visitors would pull out a 25-16 set win.  Worcester State closed out the match with a 25-11 win in the third set.
 
Carens collected a match best 14 kills on 31 attacks. She added 10 digs to collect the double double. King ended with 13 kills on just 25 attacks, hitting .400 on the night. She also had a double double notching a team best 12 digs. Nolan was outstanding setting up the offense collecting all but five of her team's assists on the night. Libero Megan Leavens ended with 12 digs for the Lancers.
 
MCLA was paced by Sara LaFreniere's team best seven kills on 28 attacks. Tessa Sestito collected 10 assists for MCLA while adding eight digs. Mackenna Jordan ended with eight digs as well.
 
The Lancers hit .300 for the match while MCLA was hurt by 19 attack errors in the contest.
 
Worcester State plays next on Saturday with a road game against Salve Regina starting at 10 a.m. The Trailblazers have a break in conference action and will battle Southern Vermont on Friday night at 6 p.m.
