Volleyball Sweeps Past Anna Maria

PAXTON, Mass. - The Worcester State University volleyball team made quick work of Anna Maria College on Tuesday evening, defeating the AMCats 3-0 in non-conference action at the Fuller Center. Set scores were 25-8, 25-14, and 26-24.

With the win, the Lancers improve to 18-9 on the season, while the AMCats drop to 3-23.

The Lancers had 10 total players contribute to the offense, combining for 35 total kills in the match. Junior Stephanie Chapin (Hampden, Mass.) led the team, as she tallied nine kills on the night. Worcester State was led in assists by Allie Nolan (Melrose, Mass.) who was credited with 16, while freshman Sarah Ward (Townsend, Mass.) dished out 12 over her own. 

The AMCats offense was led by freshmen Taylor Hoffstedt (Lanesborough, Mass.) who finished on five attack attempts. She was followed by junior Hannah Mitchell (Pittsfield, Mass.) who slammed down four kills of her own. Senior Sarah Lathrop (Waterford, Conn.) fed her attackers with eight perfect sets for assists.

The Lancers will be on the court this Friday as they take on Fitchburg State and Wentworth at 4:00PM and 6:00PM. Anna Maria will be back for their Senior Day this Thursday as they will face off against Pine Manor at 7:00PM.
