Women's Volleyball Earns Two Wins Against Fitchburg State and Wentworth

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University women's volleyball team swept the Fitchburg State Falcons and the Wentworth Leopards to earn two wins in a doubleheader on Friday.

The Lancers improved their record to 20-9 (7-0 in MASCAC action) with the wins, Fitchburg State dropped to 2-20 (0-7 in MASCAC play), and Wentworth is now 21-4.

In the first match against Fitchburg State, the Lancers won 25-6, 25-13, and 25-12.

Allie Nolan (Melrose, Mass.) led the way for the Lancers with 29 assists, two kills, and a dig. Megan Leavens (Storrs, Conn.) played a big part with her 13 digs. She also chipped in a kill and an assist. Lauren Murphy (Taunton, Mass.) had a nice match serving the ball as she finished with five service aces.

Worcester State took the second match in straight sets as well, winning 25-15, 25-11, and 25-23. The Lancers went up 21-13 quickly in the third set and eventually won the match with a kill from Amari King (Lawrence, Mass.).

Nolan added another 36 assists in this match. King and Leavens tied for the team lead in digs with 19 apiece. Carens led the way in the kill column, racking up 13.

The Lancers will play their last games of the regular season on Saturday, October 27 as they play Mount Holyoke and Babson at Babson College.
