Women's Volleyball Fall in Three Sets

DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The Worcester State University women's volleyball team dropped a straight sets decision to UMass Dartmouth Thursday evening at the Tripp Athletic Center.

Sophomore Emma Aillet (Deer Park, Tex.) notched 10 kills to lead UMass Dartmouth. Sophomore Mallory Singer (Succasunna, N.J.) added nine kills and two digs in the sweep for the host Corsairs (9-15), who prevailed by set scores of 25-18, 25-11 and 25-15.  Senior Nicole Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) registered eight kills, nine digs and four service aces for the winners, who received 18 set assists, three service aces and two digs from senior Jordan Rittberger (Huntington, N.Y.).  Senior Jillian Sykora (Waterford, Conn.) collected 18 digs for UMass Dartmouth, which received five set assists and three service aces from junior Riley Thomas (Fairhaven, Mass.) along with four digs and two service aces from senior Meghan Mullinax (Lake Balboa, Calif.).

Sophomores Leelle Tyler (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Natalie Gillis (Ashland, Mass.) each posted four kills in the setback for the visiting Lancers (8-18), who received three kills from senior Megan Johns (Burrillville, R.I.) as well as six digs, two kills and a pair of service aces from senior Stephanie Chapin (Hampden, Mass.).  Senior Katie Gagnon (Hampden, Mass.) added 11 set assists and four digs for Worcester State, which received five digs each from sophomore Sarah Ward (Townsend, Mass.) and freshman Camryn Burgio (Quincy, Mass.).

UMass Dartmouth heads to Castleton, Vt. to square off with Castleton in its Little East Conference season finale on Saturday evening beginning at 6:00 pm, while Worcester State travels to Framingham, Mass. on Saturday morning for a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match with Framingham State that begins at 11:00 am.
