Northampton, MA --- Sophomore Erin Beccia (Rutland, MA) and senior Chelsey Peso (Uxbridge, MA) had a pair of top 40 finishes for Worcester State as the pair helped propel the Lancers to ninth place overall at the Smith Invitational this morning.

In the season opener for the women's cross country squad, Beccia took home 33rd (21:35.30) followed by Peso, who was right behind in 37th (21:43.50). 

Senior Maggie Ingraham (Danvers, MA) started off her final campaign for the Blue and Gold with 107th (24:06.70) while sophomore Katherine Becker (Haverhill, MA) recorded 119th (24:39.60) and freshman Kaleigh Flagg (Winchendon, MA) notched 128th (24:57.20).

Freshman Justine Murdocca (Milford, MA) and sophomore Melanie Hunter (Maynard, MA) rounded out the top seven for WSU with 147th (26:06.60) and 152nd (26:15.30), respectively.

Next week the Lancers continue their season at the University of New England Invitational at Rotary Park in Biddleford, Maine.
