Peso Helps Women's Cross Country Team Place Fifth At UNE Invitational

 

Biddeford, ME --- Senior Chelsey Peso (Uxbridge, MA) was 10th overall (19:40.6) as she helped pace the Worcester State women's cross country squad finish fifth place at the University of New England Invitational.

The Lancers scored 124 points as a squad and just 20 points shy of placing inside the top four teams at the 5k women's race which was held at Rotary Park.

Sophomore Erin Beccia (Rutland, MA) was just off the pace with 13th individually (20:04.0) followed by senior Maggie Ingraham (Danvers, MA) who placed 28th (21:28.3).

Second-year Katherine Becker (Haverhill, MA) and freshman Kaleigh Flagg (Winchendon, MA) notched 36th (22:20.0) and 37th (22:20.2), respectively, as rookie Sara McIsaac (Weymouth, MA) recorded 41st (22:51.6).

Sophomore Melanie Hunter (Maynard, MA) rounded out the top seven for the Blue and Gold with 45th individually (23:07.03) in a race that featured 140 entrants.

Next week the Lancers will try to take advantage of the fast track at UMass Dartmouth Shriners Invitational.
