Women's Cross Country Finishes 19th At UMass Dartmouth

 

N. Dartmouth, MA --- Sophomore Erin Beccia (Rutland, MA) beat out 272 runners for 43rd place (19:25.20) as she aided the Worcester State women's cross country team to 20th overall at the UMass Dartmouth Shriners Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

With 589 team points, the Lancers were less than 100 points off from the top 15 as there were 38 institutions at the annual meet held on UMass Dartmouth's fast campus course.

Senior Chelsey Peso (Uxbridge, MA) notched 77th (19:55.97), sophomore Katherine Becker (Haverhill, MA) registered 148th (21:08.02) and freshman Kaleigh Flagg (Winchendon, MA), who was just seconds off the pace in 156th (21:15.82).

Senior Maggie Ingraham (Danvers, MA) placed 177th (21:32.24) and Sara McIsaac (Weymouth, MA) rounded out the finishers for WSU with 211st (22:44.98).

In the sub-varsity 5k competition, freshman Justine Murdocca (Milford, MA), sophomore Melanie Hunter (Maynard, MA) and classmate Danielle Cote (Dighton, MA) came in 80th (22:16.42), 106th (22:58.19) and 109th (23:10.25), respectively.

Next Saturday, the Blue and Gold will host the annual Worcester City Meet at Moore State Park in nearby Paxton.
