Puleo Earns Second Consecutive MASCAC Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week Award

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's Shaylee Puleo (Tewksbury, Mass.) has, once again, bee named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's cross country rookie of the week, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.

 

This past weekend, Puleo took 23rd place at the University of New England Invitational, finishing the 5K race in a time of 21:32 and helping the Lancers to a third place team finish.

 

"Shaylee's dedicated work ethic at daily workouts, coupled with a strong competitive nature, has helper her adjust to college level cross country running"  mentioned women's cross country head coach Gary Jusseaume.  "She's a talented freshman with a veteran's racing perspective and tactical awareness."

 

"I believe Shaylee will realize more significant performances as the season progresses,"  added Jusseaume.

 

The women's cross country team's next meet is scheduled for Saturday, September 16 when they travel to Dartmouth for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
