Carrier Named MASCAC Women’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass.- Worcester State University's freshman Julia Carrier (Oxford, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's cross country rookie of the week, as announced by the conference Monday (Oct. 9) afternoon.

This past weekend, Carrier came in 43rd place at the 22nd Annual James Earley Invitational meet at Stanley Park with a 5k time of 19:57.84.

"Julia found her running zone the last four meets, posting higher finishing places while lowering her PR (personal record) competition times,"  said head coach Gary Jusseaume.  "Carrier ran her best 5k race to date - 19:57 is an outstanding performance."

"As we head into major invitational, conference and NCAA championship meets this cross country season, Julia is sure to lower her PRs while helping guide Worcester State through its best ever cross country season."

This upcoming weekend, the Lancers will travel to Waterford, Conn. to take part in the Connecticut College Invitational.
