BOSTON, Mass. - The Worcester State University men's and women's cross country teams both had strong showings on Saturday at the 50th Annual Codfish Bowl at Franklin Park. The Lancer women finished in second with 95 points in an 11-team field, while the men finished in third with 99 points in an eight-team field.

The women's team was led, for the third consecutive meet, by senior Mia Rogers (North Dighton, Mass.) who finished eighth overall in the 5k with a time of 19:49. Finishing right behind her, in ninth place with a time of 19:50, was junior Elisabeth Olson (Wilmington, Mass.). A trio of Lancers finished consecutively to round out the top five women, as Kasey Clark (Dudley, Mass.), Kyra Siano(North Attleboro, Mass.), and Ryann Molinari (Grafton, Mass.) finished in 27th, 28th, and 29th respectively for the Lancers.

The men were led by an impressive performance by Lancer freshman Drew Fottler (Chelmsford, Mass.), who finished the 8k race with a fifth place finish and a time of 27:17. Fellow freshman Patrick Carleton (Tewksbury, Mass.) rounded out the overall top ten with a 10th place finish and a time of 27:36 on the day. Just like the women, the men's third, fourth, and fifth highest finishers all cross the finish line consecutively, as Tim Mahoney (Townsend, Mass.), Masato Terjima (Holden, Mass.), and Colin Brennan (Newbury, Mass.) finished in 32nd, 33rd, and 34th respectively.

Next up for the Lancer cross country teams, they will compete at Westfield State's James Early Invitational on Saturday, October 6 at Stanley Park.
