Women's Cross Country Finishes Third at MASCAC Championships

PAXTON, Mass. - The Worcester State University women's cross country team placed third on Saturday afternoon at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Moore State Park.

Sophomore Ryann Molinari (Grafton, Mass.) was Worcester State's top finisher, crossing the line of the 5k course in a time of 19:52 for a fourth place finish. The second Lancer finisher was sophomore Kasey Clark (Dudley, Mass.) with an eighth place finish and a time of 20:48. Both were named MASCAC All-Conference for their performances.

Westfield State University was crowned MASCAC Champion with 34 points. The Owls were led by freshman Grace Phair, who was named MASCAC Runner and Rookie of the Year with a first place finish, crossing the line in 19:10. Amy O'Sullivan and Andrea Noland also earned All-Conference honors for top 10 finishes for Westfield.

In second place was Bridgewater State University with a team score of 51 points. The top Bear finisher was senior Jenise Madden, who finished in second overall and a time of 19:23. Kaylee Dunn and Katherine Vogel joined Madden on the All-Conference team for Bridgewater State.

Framingham State finished in fourth place as a team, led by ninth place finisher Eliza Weisse, the Rams' lone All-Conference runner. Fifth-place Fitchburg State also landed one All-Conference honoree, freshman Abby Murphy, the meet's 10th place runner. Mass. Maritime finished in sixth place overall on the day. The Buccaneers were led by sophomore Lilly Hakkarainen, who placed 45th.

Bridgewater State's Connor Foley was named MASCAC Coach of the Year following the race.
