Worcester State

John Coughlin, Jr. served as an assistant hockey coach with his dad, Coach John Coughlin Sr., for eight seasons. These were the glory days of Lancer Hockey at Worcester State College. John helped to guide the team to two ECAC Hockey Championships and finished in second place a third time from 1972 through 1979.

He was responsible for recruiting Worcester State College's only All-American Hockey player as well as six ECAC All Stars. As a player at American International, John was a member of one ECAC Championship Team and a member of a team that finished second in the tournament. The new astroturf all-purpose field on campus is named in honor of his father, John Coughlin Sr.
