Title: Class of 2009

Katie O'Connor was a standout women's soccer goalkeeper and outstanding first baseman for the softball team as she was a four-year starter in both sports. O'Connor was selected a captain in her junior and senior years on the soccer team and again in her final semester playing softball. She was also a recipient of the Worcester State Most Outstanding Freshman Athlete Award and in her senior year she was honored with the prestigious Senior Female Lancer Award.

A first-team all MASCAC selection in 2001, O'Connor was 18th in the NCAA Division III with an eye-popping 0.50 goals against average as she allowed just nine goals in 17 contests. O'Connor ranks among the leaders in the Worcester State women's soccer record book as she is first all-time in saves (517), second all-time in wins (43), shutouts (31) and goals against average (1.05).

O'Connor also helped lead the team to their first ever post-season appearance in 1998 as a sophomore. She helped the squad post a 12-5-1 record as the Lancers secured a #8 seed in the ECAC Division III New England Tournament and the team very nearly upset top-seeded Babson, but they lost in double-overtime on penalty kicks.

As a softball player O'Connor was named to the All-MASCAC team three times while she also had a career .301 batting average with 63 RBIs. O'Connor also scored 28 runs in 2000 which was eighth in the MASCAC.

O'Connor currently lives in Bridgewater and works for the Brockton Veterans Hospital as an occupational therapist.

It is with great pleasure that we induct Katie O'Connor into the Worcester State College Athletics Hall of Fame.
