Hwang Earns MASCAC Special Teams Player of the Week Award

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s junior kicker, Noah Hwang (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) football special teams player of the week, as announced by the league Sunday (Oct. 22) afternoon.

This past weekend, Hwang totaled nine points on a 23-yard field goal, and went 6-for-6 on PAT to break the all-time school record for kicking points (114) in the Lancers’ 45-40 homecoming win over UMass Dartmouth.

Hwang bested Tom Gabriel who tallied 106 kicking points during the 2004-06 seasons.

“Noah has been a big factor on our team since he arrived as a freshmen,” commented head coach Brien Cullen.  “He has been a solid performer and always rises to the challenge. We are pleased that he still has another year left.”

This is Hwang’s second MASCAC special team’s player of the week award this season.

Cullen added, “He is very deserving in this week’s special team player of the week as his points were key to the win.”

The football team returns to Coughlin Field this Saturday (Oct. 28) when they host Mass. Maritime in a 12 noon game.
