
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Basketball, under first year head coach Al Pettway, have been selected third in the MASCAC preseason poll as voted on by the MASCAC conference coaches.
Grabbing the top spot this is fellow MASCAC finalist Bridgewater State who received 33 points and four first place votes to grab the top spot, followed by the Lancers other MASCAC Championship competition Westfield State who just edged out Worcester for the second spot with 29 points and a single first place vote.
Worcester State is next in third with 26 points and a first-place vote. The Lancers were 10-2 last season to earn the MASCAC Regular Season and Tournament crowns. The Lancers return Brandon Goris who collected 195 points last season along with 57 rebounds, 48 assists and 32 steals.
Grabbing the last first place vote and fourth is Salem State with 23 points, falling out of the top four is MCLA in fifth with 19 points while Fitchburg came away with nine points and sixth with Framingham in the last spot with eight points.
The MASCAC men’s basketball teams return to the hardwood over the next few weeks with their opening non-conference contests with the conference schedule starting in January. Follow all the games at mascac.com.
