Men's Soccer Falls On The Road To Trinity, 3-0

Hartford, CT -- Trinity senior Tim Shea (Somerset, MA) finished with a goal and an assist to help lead the Bantams to a 3-0 triumph over Worcester State in non-conference men's soccer action on Sunday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half, sophomore Tobias Gimand (Fairfield, CT) found the back of the net off backdoor passes by Shea and classmate Brian Kelly (Menlo Park, CA) in the 65th minute.

The Lancers (1-3) nearly responded in the 76th minute, but was called for being offsides. Freshman Josuha Evans (Springfield, MA/Sabis) also had a clean look with nine minutes left in regulation, though it was snatched away by keeper freshman Mateo Zabala (Paterson, NJ).

The Bantams (2-0-1) pulled the game out of reach with late markers by Shea in the 87th minute and another tally by sophomore Cody Sovonen (Orleans, MA) moments later.

In the opening frame Trinity outshot Worcester State 6-1, but senior goalie Emil Dedo (Worcester, MA/Doherty) helped keep the game knotted by turning aside four of the shots he saw on net.

Overall, Dedo stopped nine shots between the pipes for the Blue and Gold in the setback while Zabala recorded two saves in the victory.

Trinity held the advantages in shots on goal (12-2) and corners were even (1-1).

In upcoming action, both squads will play again on Saturday. The Lancers host Southern Maine on Saturday at 12 PM while the Bantams travel to Williams for a 1 PM NESCAC affair.
