Phillips Selected MASCAC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week

Westfield, MA --- Freshman Brady Phillips (Uxbridge, MA) has been named MASCAC Rookie of the Week for his solid performance at the Western New England Invitational on October 18.

Phillips posted 10th individually with an 8k time of 27:24.47 as the second-highest first-year runner in a field that included 180 entrants. He also led the Blue and Gold to fifth overall as a team out of 18 institutions competing in a deep field on WNE's campus course.

The honor is the second for Phillips who captured Co-ECAC Division III New England and MASCAC Rookie of the Week accolades three weeks ago for his first-place performance in the collegiate race at the Worcester City Meet.

The week after his top time at the City Championships, Phillips followed up his stellar outing at Moore State Park with fifth overall out of 104 runners, just 1:15 off the pace, at the Tri-States Invitational hosted on CCRI's course in Lincoln Rhode Island.

Phillips and the rest of the Lancer harriers will compete again next week at the MASCAC/Alliance Championships hosted by MCLA at Mount Greylock.
