Tony Scola, a Worcester State College alumnus, joined the Worcester State softball team in 2017 as an assistant coach.

Scola brings 17 years of coaching experience to the team. He began his coaching career as a coach in the Jess Burkett Little League in 2000. Under Scola’s guidance in the Jesse Burkett Little League, his teams earned six state championships and played in the regionals seven times. Scola also was the head coach for the Central Mass Chaos 18U team (2004-06), head coach for the Central Mass Bad Apples 16U team (2012-14) and assisted for the Central Mass Bad Apples 18U travel teams (2006-2012, 2014-15). Scola’s travel teams saw great achievements as they won championships at the state and regional levels. 

Scola, since 2013, continues to teach hitting techniques to softball players year-round. He is ACE softball coach certified, and also holds certifications in first aid and CPR.

Scola resides in Worcester, Mass. with his wife Melissa and has two children Toni and Haley. Toni graduated from UMass Boston Health and then went to Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Services and graduated with a Nursing Degree. Haley is a former member of the Worcester State softball team, graduating in 2019.
