MASCAC Honors 12 From Women's Lacrosse On Spring All-Academic Team

 

Westfield, MA --- Repeat selections, sophomore Kaila Chase (Northbridge, MA), second-year Katelyn Murphy (Billerica, MA) and junior Angela Grassetti (Feeding Hills, MA) highlight 12 from the women's lacrosse team who have been named to the MASCAC Spring All-Academic Team as announced by league publicist Emily Diekelmann.

Senior classmates Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) and Amy Tucker (N. Attleboro, MA) along with junior Michelle Tully (Tewksbury, MA) and sophomore Nicole Keenan (Marlboro, MA) were also honored on the spring academic honor roll.

Freshmen teamates Chloe Anderson (Williamstown, MA), Alaina Martin (E. Longmeadow, MA), Lea Robichaud (Holden, MA) and Meaghan Roche (Billerica, MA) rounded out the honorees on the women's lacrosse squad.

To earn a spot on the MASCAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have achieved a 3.20 cumulative or semester-based GPA during their season of competition.

Among other schools in the conference, the Lancers tied for second, just three off of Bridgewater State's total of 15. The women's lacrosse team also posted a spring grade point average of 3.24 all the while tying for the school record for wins in a single campaign with 13.

Under the guidance of eighth year head coach Deb Draper, the Blue and Gold were runners-up in the MASCAC Tournament and they were defeated in the ECAC Division III New England Championship game.

Overall, WSU had the third most honorees named to the MASCAC Spring All-Academic team with 92 while the sum for the 2013-14 academic year of 234 set a new institutional standard. For the spring semester, all student-athletes at Worcester State posted a stellar 3.01 grade point average.
