Women's Lacrosse Stays Perfect with Victory over Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. - The Worcester State University women's lacrosse team remained unbeaten on Saturday afternoon with a 14-3 win over Gordon College in non-conference action at the Brigham Athletic Complex.

With the win, Worcester State moves to 2-0 on the young season, while Gordon drops to 0-2.

Six Lancers scored multiple goals in the victory, paced by junior Abby Magnuson (Ellington, Conn.), who netted her fourth career hat trick, and first of the season.

Freshmen Shea Jarvis (Auburn, Mass.) and Emily Pavoni (Granby, Mass.) each tallied their first two collegiate goals in the win, while seniors Rachel Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Sarah Cohan (Lowell, Mass.) and sophomore Maddy Brennan (Pomfret, Conn.) also each scored twice for the Lancers.

Rookie Sarah DesVergnes (Limerick, Maine) turned in her second straight strong performance to start her career with two assists in the win. Freshman Bridget Smestad (Branford, Conn.) rounded out the Worcester State scoring with a goal.

In net, Chloe O'Brien (Sturbridge, Mass.) nabbed her second straight win with a three-save performance.

Worcester State will return to the field on Wednesday with a non-conference battle at Western Connecticut State. The contest is scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m.
