Women's Soccer Blanked by Clark

WORCESTER, Mass.- Worcester State University women's soccer fell to cross-town rival Clark University's Cougars 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at John F. Coughlin Memorial Field.

With the loss the Lancers drop to 0-3-1 on the season.

In the first 45 minutes the Cougars held the majority of the possession. Due to a strong Lancer defense they were only able to capitalize on one goal when Lila McNamee (Cheshire, Conn.) crossed the ball in front of the net creating the opportunity for Emma Tziachris (Cumberland, R.I.) to head the ball into the back of the net.

The Lancers saw a few opportunities in the second half, but were unable to capitalize. Haley Mignon (Tewksbury, Mass.) had the most notable scoring opportunity when she sailed past multiple defenders and forced goalie, Morgan Small (Quakertown, Penn.), out of the net to make the stop. Clark confirmed the win when Inonge Kaloustian (Prince George's County, M.D.) dribbled by the Worcester State defense and put one into the back left corner of the net.

Goalkeepers Jill Zinkus (Grafton, Mass) and Tori Socci (Blackstone, Mass.) split the game and earned a combined nine saves in the effort.

Worcester State will return to action Thursday when they head to Becker. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
