Women's Soccer Dropped by Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. - The Worcester State University women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat to Gordon College Tuesday evening at the Brigham Athletic Complex.

Worcester State falls to 1-5-1 on the season with the defeat, while the Fighting Scots jump to 6-1-1.

Gordon outshot Worcester State 7-6 in the opening 45 minutes, but neither team was able to break the ice in the half, and the teams went to the break scoreless.

The score was still knotted at 0-0 when McKenna Feller finally scored the game's first goal, tallying on a penalty kick in the 74th minute. Worcester State wouldn't be able to muster another shot in the final 16 minutes as the Lancers looked for an equalizer, and the hosts pulled away with the victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Tori Socci (Blackstone, Mass.) looked sharp between the pipes for Worcester State, but came away with the tough-luck loss. Socci recorded eight saves in the loss. Worcester State was outshot in the contest 17-8, including 10-2 in the second half.

Next up for the Lancers, they will return home to face Mass. Maritime at 11 a.m. on Saturday to open up its MASCAC schedule.
