Chris Kirwan was named an assistant coach for the women's soccer team in 2011. During practices and games, Coach Kirwan specifically works with the squad's goalkeepers.

In every season that Coach Kirwan has been on the sidelines, the Lancers have qualified for the MASCAC Tournament semifinals with six appearances in the title game.

In recent years, Kirwan has led the Blue and Gold to the lowest goals against average in the conference. The the team marked a 0.87 goals against average last season, a 0.77 goals against average in 2015, and a 0.88 average in 2014. In 2015, the Lancers only permitted 15 goals to pass through the pipes in 19 games en-route to the MASCAC Regular Season title and the MASCAC Tournament championship.

Coach Kirwan played three years of varsity soccer at St. Peter-Marian in Worcester, Mass. During his senior year, he captained the team to its first district appearance in four years and earned both Central Mass and Worcester Telegram & Gazette All-Star awards. 

He continued his playing career at nearby Becker College where he was captain both years he played. While at Becker, he earned North Atlantic Conference honors, ECAC honors, and was voted team MVP.

Coach Kirwan then served as an assistant coach at Becker College for two years, winning a conference tournament during his tenure. Coach Kirwan also coached at Nichols College in Dudley, Mass., working as the first assistant coach and head goalkeeper coach.
