Volf, Jankins, Shepard Earn All-LEC Women's Tennis Accolades

N. Dartmouth, MA --- Freshman Faina Volf (Sharon, MA), sophomore Shelby Jankins (W. Brookfield, MA) and junior Megan Shepard (Middletown, CT) were all honored by the Little East Conference for their outstanding play during the regular season as announced by league publicist Megan Erbes.

Volf was named to the All-LEC Second-team at fourth singles while Jankins and Shepard were selected to the All-LEC Second-team at second doubles.

Volf went 9-1 overall and 6-1 in league play. In addition to her four victories as the fourth seed, she dispatched the third-singles opponents against UMass Dartmouth and Plymouth State in straight sets.

In her first campaign, Volf was third on the squad with 11 points – including LEC wins at third doubles against UMass Boston and Southern Maine.

In their second season playing together as WSU's top doubles team, Jankins and Shepard went 9-4 overall with a 5-3 record in Little East Conference action. In the LEC, the duo went 4-1 at second doubles while also boasting another victory over the top seed from UMass Dartmouth.

Both student-athletes moved up on WSU's All-Time scoring list with Shepard leading the team in points (19) and Jankins right behind with 14.

Among career leaders, Shepard is tied for sixth in the list with 43 points in her three-year career as she has 25 victories alone in doubles play. With just five victories shy of becoming the programs all-time record in pairs play, Shepard should set the mark at the beginning of next season.

With two seasons under her belt, Jankins jumped to 12th on the all-time scoring list with 29 points, 17 coming at doubles play. She joined the 25-point club midway through the season on September 23 against Salem State.

With a final fall record of 7-6 (3-5 LEC), the Lancers were guided to the conference tournament for the third straight season by third-year head coach Albana Xhemollari.
