Alves and Taylor Named LEC Women's Tennis All-Conference

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Worcester State University women's tennis student-athletes Dominique Alves (Ludlow, Mass.) and Lauren Taylor (Attleboro, Mass.) have each been named to the Little East All-Conference Second Teams in both singles and as a tandem in doubles. The announcement came from the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.

The pair is Worcester State women's tennis's first all-conference selection in doubles since 2015, when Shelby Jankins and Megan Shepard were named to the First Team. Alves and Taylor were 4-3 playing the number one doubles in conference matches, and 6-5 overall. Despite the team's loss to Bridgewater State in the LEC Quarterfinals, Alves and Taylor won the match's first point with an 8-4 doubles win.

Alves, a First Team Singles selection a season ago, was 6-1 in conference singles matches this season to earn her second consecutive All-Conference honor. Alves was a perfect 5-0 playing at second singles, and 1-1 in the first position. Alves finished the season riding a five-match winning streak.

Taylor, who missed her entire junior season due to injury, returned to earn her first All-Conference selection. Taylor went 3-6 in LEC matches this season, all played from the first singles position. She was a one-time LEC Co-Player of the Week during the season.

The Lancers will return to the courts for a handful of matches during the spring season. The exact dates and opponents of those matches will be announced at a later date.
