Indoor Track & Field Competes in NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - A handful of Worcester State University men's and women's indoor track & field student-athletes competed in day one of the NEICAAA Championships Friday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The only representative of the women's team, senior Mia Rogers (North Dighton, Mass.) finished in 17th place in the 5000 meter run, up against athletes from Divisions I and II. Rogers crossed the finished line with a time of 19:42.13.

On the men's side, senior Marcus Vieira (Peabody, Mass.) finished fourth in the weight throw with a heave of 17.71 meters. Classmate Anthony Christo (Peabody, Mass.) finished in 22nd in the same event with a throw of 15.27 meters.

Senior Scott Page (Winchendon, Mass.) finished in a tie for 12th place in the pole vault, clearing 4.40 meters.

On the track, sophomore John Ojukwu (Stow, Mass.) competed in the preliminary round of the men's 60 meter dash, finishing in 22nd place with a sprint of 7.14 seconds. Junior Eddy Boamah (Worcester, Mass.) rounded out Lancers competing on the day with a 21st place finish in the 200 meter dash, crossing the finish line in 22.69.

The full Lancers men's and women's indoor track & field teams will be back in action on Saturday with a trip to the Wesleyan Invitational.
