Women's Indoor Track & Field Competes in John Thomas Terrier Classic

BOSTON, Mass. - Eight members of the Worcester State University women's indoor track & field team competed on Friday in the John Thomas Terrier Classic, hosted at Boston University and the Track & Tennis Center.

The meet featured athletes from all three NCAA Divisions, as well as professional track & field athletes and even a handful of world record holders.

The highest Lancer finish on the day came from freshman Maureen Grady (Douglas, Mass.), who finished 11th overall in the 60 meter dash at 8.06 seconds. Of 11 Division III athletes competing in the event, Grady was the top finisher, and defeated 21 Division I student-athletes.

A trio of Worcester State athletes competed in the 200 meter dash, led by freshman Avonia Herbert (Sharon, Mass.), who placed 58th overall with a time of 25.96 seconds. Finishing in 70th place in the event with a time of 26.16 seconds was freshman Elena Pellegrini (Ashland, Mass.), while senior Abigail MacGregor (Salem, N.H.) finished 86th at 26.43 seconds.

Sophomore Ryann Molinari (Grafton, Mass.) competed in the mile run on the day, and placed 105th overall with a time of 5:32.58. In the 1,000 meter run, junior Shaylee Puleo (Tewksbury, Mass.) placed 90th overall, running a time of 3:23.64.

Junior Kyra Siano (North Attleboro, Mass.) ran a time of 2:30.38 in the 800 meter run to place 116th overall, while senior Brenda Thomas (Worcester, Mass.) rounded out the Lancer competitors with a 100th place finish in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:02.14.

The Worcester State men's indoor track & field team will compete in the same meet on Saturday.
