Adams and Gastonguay Receive MASCAC Weekly Honors

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Field Hockey team had two named to this weeks MASCAC weekly honors after going 2-0 in two overtime victories on the week. Seniors Grace Adams (Leominster, MA) and Sam Gastonguay (Ashburnham, MA) were tabbed this week as the offensive and defensive players of the week.

Adams tallied four goals for eight points, including an overtime game-winner in a 2-0 week for the Lancers. She scored the overtime game-winning goal in the 3-2 win over Southern Maine and kept the Lancers undefeated with two more goals in the 3-2 overtime win over Salem State. Adams season totals now sit at 10 goals, four assists for 24 points on the season with two game winning goals already claimed.

Gastonguay collected 14 saves with a .778 save percentage and 1.90 GAA in a 2-0 week for the Lancers. She made nine saves in the 3-2 overtime win over Salem State to remain undefeated in conference play. Gastonguay added five more saves in the 3-2 overtime win over Southern Maine. Her season totals currently sit at 1.37 GAA with 25 saves on a .781 save percentage to be 4-1 in cage on the season.

The Lancers return to action on Wednesday when they travel for a conference rematch with Westfield State. They opened their MASCAC season at home with a 4-0 win against the Owls on September 15th.
